Sharp LC32A37M LCD TV

01 Sep, 2009, 9:00 am IST | by Siddharth Bhatia | LCD LCD

Sharp are the peeps who invented the first LCD screens, but for some reason they have not come into the limelight in our country. Over here it’s the big Korean giants. Sharp is all made in Japan. Their panels come from Kameyama. The A series was introduced last year. This 32-inch model is their entry level piece of work for the consumer. Dubbed the Sharp Aquos LC32A37M, it looks quite promising. Thus we open it up and turn it on.

Design and features
A very straight up bezel design, this exoskeleton is glossy black finished, just like many other brands. The shine goes all the way down to the rectangular stand. This joint needs to be screwed on tight with the body. It’s not prefixed out of the box. The top and bottom edge is slightly curved. Besides this we have only a single Sharp logo printed on the bottom edge.

Buttons are on the side: they are regular push buttons, no touch sensitive ornaments. The connectors are arranged in a blockish window, on the left side of back panel. Slots include 2 HDMIs, one VGA, one composite and 2 component video ins. Besides this we have an analog audio out, an S-video and RS-232 control in. No USB and no headphone out.

As for rated specs we have a 1366 x 768 HD ready panel. The brightness is 450 cd/m2, native contrast is 1500:1. Dynamic rating is given as 10,000:1. This TV is low on proprietary features, which is not necessarily a bad thing, we will have to manually browse through the UI to check what options are available, and how well one can tweak the image to betterness.  Response time is not mentioned, but the viewing angle is:  176/176 degrees.
