Performance The native resolution is 1440 x 900. One thing you have to keep in mind with LCDs is that the image is sharp only at their native resolution unlike CRT monitors which can accept a wide variety of resolutions. Wide-Screen is good for watching though not many games currently have support for wide-screen resolutions—the image has to be rescaled and looks stretched. But now, as wide-screen monitors are becoming more and more mainstream, the newer games like Company of Heroes come with wide-screen support. Recent games like F.E.A.R and HL2 also support gaming wide-screen resolutions (i.e. 1440x900 – 19 inch, 1680x1050- 22 inch, 1920x1200- 24 inch). Viewing angle is as advertised 150/140 i.e. 150 horizontally and 140 vertically which is pretty good. With regards to the image quality, we are pleased with the good over-all performance. It fared well in the sharpness department, particularly with the text which was crisp, well contrasted and easy to read. The grayscale performance was above average with it not displaying the darkest shades of grey. The color reproduction at default settings was not very accurate with the yellows looking pale. But after making adjustments using the Color Control in the On Screen Menu, the color reproduction was good and considerably better. On Screen Menu With regards to gaming, the 5 second response time helps the monitor—a fast response time is necessary for fast moving images. The response time indicates how fast the screen can refresh a video image. If the display pixels cannot keep pace with the information sent from the graphics chip, you will see ghosting as a result. With regards to the FP92W there was no ghosting with all the games and movies we played. |
