Viewsonic VX2233wm LCD Monitor

29 Sep, 2009, 2:06 pm IST | by Siddharth Bhatia | Monitors Monitors

The 22-inch widescreen monitor is very popular already, because it goes hand in hand with the requirements of gamers and multimedia buffs alike. We all want a slightly bigger, full HD screen to fulfill our visual urges. Viewsonic is a prolific brand with desktop monitors being their forte, but still every new model has to be reviewed and compared to see if it is consistent in its quality and performance. Thus we have their VX2233wm LCD Monitor in our test center today, lets see what it has to offer...

Design and Features
This model bears a similar design to recent models by Viewsonic, which is a full gloss black frame, continuing to the oval stand. The edges are more or less straight ruled but not sharp, with the bottom panel having a slightly arched edge. Viewsonic logo is embossed in silver in the center, with a trapezoidal shaped LED right below. The latter glows in an intense blue hue when the monitor is powered on. Besides these aspects, the front view is plain and bare. Right panel has the operational buttons: 4 silver colored push buttons in all.

The frame fits on its stand very easily in a sturdy clamp fit with a decent level of sturdiness, although it jerks a bit if you nudge it. The monitor can tilt up and down, but not swivel left to right. The connectors available are one DVI-D(with HDCP), one VGA in and an audio 3.5 mm input. There are stereo speakers available in the form of a 2 x 2 watt pair.

The viewable size of this monitor is 21.5 inch diagonal, while the native res is 1920 x 1080, 16:9 aspect ratio.  Response time is 5 ms, while brightness is rated at 300 cd/m2. The contrast is rated at 1000:1 static, and 18,000:1 dynamic. The panel, we are assuming to be a TN panel judging by price, viewing angles etc
