Creative MuVo T100

The high and low frequencies are ok and provide a decent amount of range. The bass line is the problem. With the Bass Boost feature activated, the bass is a little more evident but it’s somehow a little hollowed out. The beats sound like you’re listening to music with a ‘Hall’ or ‘Theater’ EQ preset active. That’s NOT how I listen to my audio and it was quite disappointing in that context.

The option of being able to store music in specific folders and accessing them like playlists is definitely a good thing. I could do without the repeat mode. I tested the earphones on the Cowon S9 and that’s exactly how I know that the issue with sound quality is not from the earphones but the player.

Copy pasting files via its USB 2.0 port is quick and easy. It supports MP3, WMA and Audible file formats for playback.

Battery Life
Creative’s website states that the MuVo T100 is capable of dishing out up to 10 hours of battery life on a single charge. It’s very rare that I’ve actually come across a product that either succeeds in delivering on that promise and even rarer that a product actually manages to do better. The Creative MuVo T100 is one of those extremely rare products that caught me by surprise when it delivered over 10 hours of audio. It clocked in at 10 hours and 35 minutes and while that may not seem like much more, anything that goes even a few minutes over the battery life promised by a company is great in my books.

The Bottom Line
Sadly though, battery life is not enough. Even with a very affordable price tag of Rs. 1, 800 for a 2GB model, a simple and extremely light weight design and a good set of earphones, its main issue is of course the overall audio quality it provides. The Creative MuVo T100 comes through on all fronts except that, so unless you’re not a hardcore audiophile and are simply looking for a DAP that has decent quality sound, with adequate storage in a lower end segment, the T100 is just what the doctor ordered.
