LG GM200 Mobile Phone

I can’t think of anything negative to state about the handset’s music player. The sound quality that the GM200 provides is loud, clear and loud! Did I say that already?  That’s because it is. It was excruciating to listen to music at full volume and you don’t find too many handsets that can throw out a decibel level like that. The best part is though, even at peak volume the amount of distortion hitting the earphones was next to nothing.

The audio settings included a list of EQ presets, no customizable option, which I did miss and the Dolby Mobile engine that delivers a wide spectrum of virtual surround audio. The tones were crisp with a clear bass line that will have your feet stomping every time you’ve got a track playing. You can also opt to use an A2DP enabled headset for a better experience.  The player interface was nothing special.
The GM200’s FM radio was another pleasant surprise. Even though it took a while (17 seconds) to find and store all the available channels to presets, what really impressed me is that it did it while I was commuting. The reception quality was better than most of the other handsets I’ve tested so far. You can also record from the radio and what’s even better is the ‘Intenna’ that allows you to switch on the radio sans a handsfree or earphones.

A separate Voice Recorder is also available for voice memos and such. LG has also included a ringtone creator with which you can cut audio files stored on the device to use as ringtones. I even managed to watch a couple of videos in 3GP format as well as MPEG4. The resolution may not be too high but there was virtually no lag or disruption while watching any of the files.
