After last week’s review of the big and bulky Kingston DT150 32 GB drive, this week, we are going to check out one of the smallest drives that the company offers, namely the Data Traveller (DT) Mini Slim. How does it fare up against its bigger brother? Let’s find out!
Given its size the question arises, will this drive be able to weather the wear/tear that flash drives are subjected to on a normal basis? The answer is yes. The drive maybe small but features a fairly hardened plastic case which does not flex even the tiniest bit. A neutral color finish that will have the drive look decent even after a year of use, and recessed contact points that will not easily get damaged despite being exposed. Could this design have been improved upon? Certainly! A switch from using a plastic body to perhaps a smaller titanium casing, would improve the viability of the drive. However, the trade-off will be its size and weight, and would inflate the price of the drive to the point where it would become unviable to make this product. The only complaint we have about the design of the drive is the absence of a lanyard. Given its size, it should have been provided, as it would make it a lot easier to carry the drive around. |
