Trine

Each character has three slots that can be used to store items found during the course of the game. These items can boost health or increase damage dealt out by that class (there are also certain items that can only be used by a particular class). Besides your health bar you’ll also have to keep an eye on the magic bar (displayed right below the health bar) with which you’ll unleash magical attacks like fire bows in the case of the thief or the knight’s decimating shockwave. Don’t worry; you’ll be able to use these attacks quite liberally since every enemy killed drops experience, health or mana.
__STARTQUOTE__Trine does have a few shortcomings but it is one gem of a game that’s a must have whether you’re into arcade games or not__ENDQUOTE__Visually the game is just beautiful. Levels are gorgeous and lighting has been used brilliantly in the game giving it an insanely well detailed magical vibe. Also every level is pretty different from the other so there’s a ton of variety to be found in the game. Physics-based puzzles are the game’s USP and they work really well giving you multiple solutions for various puzzles. On the flip side enemies do get a bit repetitive as I found myself killing variants of skeletons throughout the entire game interspersed with a few spiders, annoying bats and boss fights.

Trine offers a local co-operative mode but sadly (and I do mean sadly), you can’t take the game online with friends. There’s no multiplayer mode in there but once you finish the game you can head back in there to play it all over again at a higher difficulty level. The bottom line is that Trine does have a few shortcomings but it is one gem of a game that’s a must have whether you’re into arcade games or not.

Trine is available for both the PS3 (via the PlayStation Network) PSN and PC (via Steam).
