Performance
The overall performance of Tytan is excellent thanks to Intel Core i7-2600k. It scored 5367 points and 4776 points in PCMark 7 and 3DMark 11 benchmarking tests respectively. It breezed through the real-world tests taking only 18 second to transcode a 1 minute MPEG video to H.264 format, and taking 24 seconds to compress 100MB of data to 7.zip format using Ultra preset. Note that these numbers are very low; a standard desktop PC would take more than twice as long.

The read and write speeds were good, but not very impressive because of the SATA 3Gb/s SSD. It logged sequential read and write speeds of 201MB/s and 60.79MB/s respectively in CrystalDiskMark and SiSoft Sandra 2012. SATA 6Gb/s drives are more than twice as fast. The Seagate Barracuda hard drive managed to log 153MB/s and 151MB/s in sequential read and write tests respectively. The read speed was marginally lower than that of the SSD, but the writes speed was significantly higher. Here, higher read speed is important for better operating system response and quicker application loading.

The gaming performance was also good, but it would have been much better had Asus used a high-end graphics card. Here is what this PC scored in the real-world gaming benchmarks ran at a resolution of 1920x1080. The games ran very smoothly, but they won’t be as smooth on larger screens with higher resolutions.

Crysis 2
Ultra preset - Hi-res textures - No AA: 37.4 fps
Ultra preset - Hi-res textures - 4xAA: 35.7 fps

Dirt 3
Ultra preset - No AA: 67.69 fps
Ultra preset – 8x MSAA: 57.5 fps

Battlefield 3
Ultra preset - No AA: 62.4 fps
Ultra preset – 4x MSAA: 41 fps

Batman Arkham City
Extreme preset - No AA: 75 fps
Extreme preset – 8x MSAA: 43 fps

Verdict and Price in India
The Asus ROG Tytan CG8565 comes at a hefty price of Rs. 1,15,000. It is one of the most powerful configurations available in the branded gaming PC category. We liked the inclusion of a high-quality mechanical keyboard and a gaming mouse. However, at this price, you can easily build a more powerful gaming PC with Intel Core i7-3770k, Asus P8Z77-V Pro, 8GB of high-end RAM, GTX 660 Ti and a large SATA 6GB/s SSD — all of which this PC lacks.
