To be a part of the competitive multiplayer gaming scene, it's not just the new and snazzy titles one has to go up against. Besides every other new title that have a multiplayer component, there are forces that have been working around the clock to please gamers; forces such as DotA (Defense of the Ancients) - a Warcraft III community-developed map that is cheap to set-up, has a simple gameplay structure, is easy to pick-up, and painfully addictive - a lethal combination! Demigod hopes to harness some of those powers to empower itself with similar success. So will Demigod ever be as successful as DotA? Probably not. But that doesn't mean that it won't find its share of followers. Demigod does what DotA did right - it has a simple match structure, fast paced gameplay that's both balanced, and competitive, and is still deep enough to keep the hardcore player hooked. The game's storyline is as follows: the Gods have found one amongst them guilty of sharing their secrets with mortals, and have destroyed him, leaving a spot open for a new God. To fight for his spot, all the (bastard) children born off the union of Gods with Human consorts that have retained enough divinity, have come together to battle each other, looking for the strongest amongst them to bolster the ranks of the Mighty ones. Pretty twisted, yet a simple storyline for a straight-forward game. |
