Zebronics MP3 DJ Gamma and Uno

MP3 DJ Uno
The second player from Zebronics that we got to review is even more basic. The the MP3 DJ Uno is a simple pen drive-like device with a capacity of 1GB.

Form Factor

There’s nothing to the design really; it looks like a normal USB pen drive. One end pops open to reveal the USB port and on the other end is a small Hold switch. Five-way navigation styled buttons on the front let you adjust volume and skip tracks, and there's a play/pause button in the center. A single red LED is located just above the navigation keys. The 3.5 earphone socket is located on the side and the single AAA battery compartment is located at the rear.

Performance
Since the Uno is essentially a pen drive that plays MP3 and WMA files, it has no other features. The provisioned earphones are very comfy on the ears, but unfortunately just about adequate. You might want to make sure your music files are converted and saved at a slightly lower level or you’re not going to be able to hear much music. Though the sound quality is quite good the volume is not nearly enough to enjoy on a city commute unless the song's been recorded at very high levels.

I tested this player too with high-end earphones, and though the quality was better defined, it didn’t help with the volume. On the plus side, it has no display, just a small LED, so you’ll be able to squeeze a lot out of the battery. One Duracell just went on and on. You’ll easily get 3-4 days of usage out of this baby, which is not bad at all.

The Bottomline
The Uno is a simple player for those with simple tastes. Even though it isn’t too loud or feature-rich, at a price of just Rs 1,300 what more would you expect? The product does deliver for the price, so yes, it’s worth a look.

Would you buy it?
