Viewsonic PJD6210 DLP Projector

12 Feb, 2009, 4:07 pm IST | by Siddharth Bhatia | Projectors Projectors

As you guys may have noticed, we have started increasing the number of projector reviews here, as these boys are fast gaining popularity in the home theater consumer market. Or maybe it’s the other way around. Projectors were meant only for the serious video/theater enthusiast or those heavily minted. But now, prices are coming down, and some brilliant ones are available for lesser than some LCDs. The brand we have, Viewsonic, is highly respected in professional spaces, and the model name is PJD6210, a new DLP released just a couple months ago in India.

Design and Features
This sober looking model comes housed in an all white chassis with a mild luster. It’s more or less rectangular, with regular straight edges and surfaces. It’s a no frills design, and looks simple and worthwhile. The switches on the top are arranged in a circular manner, with the center part of the circular arrangement containing navigation buttons. This leaves the rest of the top panel bare and clutter free.

The inputs are on the left side panel, which are quite scarce in number - one composite, S-video, and a D-SUB in. I would have liked if there was a Digital video in like HDMI or DVI-D. The projector is of the DLP type, and also contains Brilliant Color technology, which claims more accurate colors with use of additional secondary colors in the DLP circuitry’s color wheel itself. The native resolution of the projector is 1024x768, while the max it can go to 1280x1024. The brightness is 2200 ANSI lumens, while the contrast ratio is 2800:1. Throw distance is 1.2 -10.0 meters, while the max screen size obtainable according to the specs is 635 cm across.
