Unlike most consoles, the PS3 has a slot based Blu-Ray drive instead of your conventional disc tray. All this is fine and dandy, and not to mention visually appealing, but on the flip side, the console is a real lard ass weighing in at 11 pounds as opposed to the not-so-slim-yet-lighter Xbox 360 that weighs in at 9 pounds and a highly anorexic Wii that stands at 4 pounds. Now even though the PS3 is packing a lot of power under that sleek exterior, it isn’t half as noisy as the Xbox 360 and does not require a brick of an adaptor (Thank God! for small wonders). Any one who’s owned a PSP will feel right at home with the PS3’s new User Interface (UI). Dubbed the Cross Media Bar (XMB), it’s nearly a carbon copy of the PSP’s UI and looks extremely sleek and polished. However, new to the PS3 are two tabs, "Users" and "Friends". The "Users" tab will allow you to manage multiple profiles for different users while the "Friends" tab will allow you to maintain a list of your friends and keep in touch with them via messages. The other available functions include:
