In fact unlike real life, drifting in RR7 helps you gain speed! This happens because every time you drift, your nitrous bar gets filled up slowly. That doesn't mean that you should drift on a straight road like a retard of course; it's all about the quality of the drift, not quantity. Like NFS:Carbon, fast drifts with a steep angle are far more rewarding than slow, long drifts. So you've got to find the right balance between drifting fast and cornering properly. Once you get that perfected, you accumulate large amounts of nitrous. After that point, the experience is an up-hill ride - the game starts feeling better and better with each passing race. Speaking of nitrous, the maximum amount of nitrous you can collect at any point of time is 3 bars. Once you have 2 or 3 bars, you have enough nitrous for 3 boosts. However, if you feel the urgent need for speed and you've got the urge to splurge, you can use all three (or two) boosts together to gain a long, MASSIVE speed boost that will leave you opponents far behind. This is really awesome on tracks that have long, straight stretches, since boosting on turns isn't always the best way to go. The reason behind this is that while boosting, you don't gain any nitrous, even if you're drifting. So you've got to time your boosts in such a way that they end just before a turn; in this way you get to use the speed to your advantage, and get a real fast drift that will help you gain a shit-load of nitrous. |
