Protecting your personal data in today’s world has become an absolute necessity. With an exponential rise in the number of services requiring your user data, there exists a need to keep all your data securely in one place. There are multiple benefits of a centralized approach, including ease of use, not having to remember all your usernames and passwords, and even helping users come up with passwords! One such utility that helps you in this endeavour is Sticky Password. Let’s have a look at what this is all about.
![]() Handy tutorials
Features Sticky Password is a password management tool. Its operation is simple—you have a master password that secures all your other content. To start off, the software recognizes all the sites that you have password protected and immediately logs you in. Tedious form filing is also taken care of. You only need to enter all your information once and the tool will automatically enter it from then onwards. Integration with browsers is taken care of, so all your data is immediately accessible.
Sticky Password has a neat feature that lets you automatically import saved passwords from browsers and other programs on your computer. Besides that, the software comes with a password generator that lets you create strong passwords . The entire database is encrypted with AES algorithms. Multiple levels of protection are possible against key loggers using the automatic log in and form filling.
![]() The master password
Because of the fact that there’s a master password to store all your data behind, you’re safeguarded from other users logging into your accounts on the browser. Naturally, you’ll have only one password to remember thereafter. There’s a separate portable version that lets you take all your passwords with you on a portable drive.
Interface Opening up Sticky Password leads you to a short tutorial explaining the features of the software. That’s pretty handy for newbies. The overall interface is simple and easy to use. The left panel takes you to the main sub sections while the right shows you quick access buttons for your most used features. The settings include an option that allows you to start the software along with Windows and there’s multiple language support. Time-based locking lets you automatically lock your data after 10 minutes of computer inactivity, by default. The interface has a lot of options to manually tweak various features.
![]() Importing data
Performance As far as Sticky Passwords’ main feature is concerned, it does it very effectively. It runs silently in the background and has minimal strain on system resources. Importing data and getting started is easy and requires very little time from the user’s point of view. It’s quick, fast and nifty. We tried loading data from mutliple sites and apps and it neatly arranges the content in a list. You can even launch a service from the list itself to get you started with your work.
![]() Worth a buy?
Verdict The Pro version of Sticky Password is priced at $30 (Rs. 1,666). Along with the product you also get a free portable version with each license, an iPhone app, and license for all users on your computer. An interesting alternative that is worth trying is Last Pass, which offers similar features at a lower price ($12 or Rs. 667). Sticky Password does the job, but it's a bit too expensive. |
