Intex 10500W Speakers

Speakers

Yes, I’m reviewing an Intex product again, not long after I checked out their 5.1 speaker system. The company just sent us two nifty little packages that contained a different speaker system. It’s a 2.0 stereo job this time, with some cool features and connectivity options.

Design and Features
These tower speakers are slim and upright, so they may be a little awkward to place on your desk. At the same time, placing them on the floor makes them too short to reach ear level. The solution is to place them on a pair of appropriate stands.

The external finish (a smooth veneer coat) is quite interesting. The texture is not wood; it’s gray with mild black ridges. This is on the side and black of the cabinet; the front panel is slightly convex with a glossy black finish, bordered by two mahogany colored strips on the side.

Shiny metallic driver rims and similarly colored rivets complete the aesthetic scheme. It looks nice, though minimalists may find it too gaudy. The metallic rivets on the front are probably responsible.

The driver configuration makes this a three-way, but the difference is the 8 inch woofers are side firing. This calls for an extended cabinet depth and a narrow façade, with a 2-inch tweeter and 4-inch mid range. A black grille covers the tweeter, and there's a reflex port at the bottom of the front panel. The total output is 84W RMS, with a frequency response of 50 Hz–20 KHz. The impedance is 4 ohms.

Now for the fun part. The system comes with a cordless mic, which explains the antennae on one of the speakers. This speaker has controls and inputs, which include a stereo RCA audio in and 2 mic inputs in the form of ¼-inch (6.4 mm) jacks. This unit should appeal to amateur musicians, as two instrument players and a singer can jam using this set. You can also embarrass everyone by singing along in karaoke, thanks to the cordless mic. The controls include a ‘delay’ knob, to generate echoes on the mic inputs.
