ViewSonic VX2433WM LCD Monitor

Performance
We plugged the monitor into our HTPC via the HDMI input, and started with the menu. The GUI is small and placed at the center of the screen. I would prefer it to be at the bottom left corner, as the buttons are small too, and slightly impedes the coordination while setting stuff. First things, the brightness is set to max out of the box, thus everything looks milky, and black fonts on my text processor look malnutritioned.

Thus in the menu the dynamic contrast setting can be employed .It’s got quite good results, but still overall we get white blooming on high contrast levels. Manually the brightness can be reduced to avoid this, but then vividness will be lost. Blacks are deep though, but not absolutely dense and spectacular. Also in our 256 bar grayscale, the last few bars could not differentiate.

Colors were not oversaturated in any individual channel. Meaning red blue and green were in good neutrality, but not bang on target for a graphics guy - a gamer or multimedia guy would like it. Since the brightness is little patchy, certain light parts will not appear spot on dazzling though. This is just a minor drawback, not a serious issue.

What was good about the monitor was the motion video and cleanliness in its rendering. The response time is actually a healthy one. We played X men Wolverine Origins game and found the motion very smooth. Then I saw 300 1080p, and here too the video was smooth with few artifacts like jaggies and moiring. Noise in the video too was minimal.

Conclusion
Street price is Rs. 15,999, with a 3year onsite warranty, thus it's not too expensive a deal, with something like a BenQ E2400HD in comparison. There are issues with the whites and lighter shades due to brightness deficiency. The blacks and colors are decent, with very good motion rendering. A gamer or multimedia person might dig this model, as it’s a good entry level 24-inch screen.
