The controls are a bit confusing. It’s painful to adjust the 5 band customizable EQ. It takes some getting used to handle the key controls for selecting options in the EQs. On the plus side, there are EQ presets to choose form. Other than that the player is quite simplistic so you just need to get used to the controls. What I detest about most PMPs is the fact that you can’t adjust the EQ settings directly from the player itself. Following in that line, the 4GA’s EQ settings can only be manipulated by going back through the main menu to the Settings, Music settings and finally the EQ settings and then backtracking all the way back to the player. (Ever hear of a shortcut, people?) But the output is loud and relatively clear. I would have loved to use my own earphones WITHOUT a converter, but the bundled earphones were okay. Watching videos is definitely a good experience. The bundled video converter is a lot faster than most of the other players I’ve encountered. The video compression is really good too. Forwarding videos is also simple and not painfully slow. So no issues whatsoever with the AV section of the player at all. Battery The battery can be charged directly though the PC, and Mitashi also provides a USB-to-DC converter for charging through a wall socket. The battery life on the whole was quite good. I was able to watch two full-length movies and still had plenty of juice for a couple of hours of music. So the battery deserves a fair share of praise. The Bottomline With 4GB of space and external memory support, the MWI-4GA is a capacious PMP. It does well on the features front except for the key control. I didn’t like the 2.5 mm earphone socket of course, but the sound from the bundled earphones was nothing to sneer at. Priced at Rs 7,900, the Mitashi MWI-4GA is a great product. So have yourself a Merry Christmas and true to the spirit of giving, I could use one of these. I hope you can take a hint (wink, wink). |
