Turok

Turok may have left the building after Acclaim shut its doors down in 2004, but for some reason developer Propaganda Games seemed adamant on keeping the legend of the native Indian dinosaur hunter alive. And so they bought over the Turok franchise to start working on a brand new version of the game that would hopefully redeem the series from the ridicule previous iterations had faced.

Have they succeeded in doing so? Well, to a certain extent they have, but Turok’s way too much of a generic shooter to stand out from the crowd. Don’t get me wrong; fighting dinosaurs in HD can get your adrenaline pumping for a while... but at the end of the day the game just doesn’t have what it takes to justify its steep price tag, especially now that gamers have been thoroughly spoiled by the likes of BioShock and Call of Duty 4.

The story so far is that you're Joseph Turok, the latest recruit in an organization called the Whiskey Company, who's after a dastardly criminal called Roland Kane. Kane was the leader of the Wolfpack, an outfit you were once a part of but for certain reasons (that unfold during the game), you two had a fallout and don't see eye to eye anymore. Now with a bunch of badasses that somehow manage to fulfill every cliché in the book, your mission is to bring him to justice one way or another.

As usual the brown stuff hits the fan while you and your team are being briefed, and before you know it, your ship crash-lands on to one hostile planet. Not only is this planet crawling with Kane's heavily armed men, but you also have dinosaurs and tons of mutated creatures who don't take too kindly to intruders. Dinosaur mauling, hunting and stabbing ensue.
