Brutal Legend

You can make out Tim Schafer and his team of metal heads at Double Fine burst an artery in their heads designing the world of Ormagöden. Everything about the game be it locations, animals, weapons or vehicles screams Heavy Metal at the top of its lungs. There’s no two ways about it – Brutal Legend has an awesome art style. Sadly, here’s where all the awesomeness ends and the drudgery begins.

Brutal Legend is a conventional hack and slash game in which for some inane reason the protagonist cannot jump. Combat in this game is painfully simple. You stun enemies with your guitar after which you can lop their heads off with your axe. Keep the stun button pressed for a while and they’ll be lifted off the ground via a fiery attack. Similarly keeping the attack button pressed for a few seconds will dish out a more powerful attack on your enemies. You can upgrade your moves but they’re mostly variants of your existing ones making combat a highly monotonous affair.
