Meet the team
Shayne Rana
Deputy Editor
Shayne has an exceptional love for superheroes, action figures, comics, retro music and movies. His love for the 80s is also very evident in his lingo which is populated with words like 'Yes Siree Bob', 'Scooby-doo', Howdy and lots, LOTS more. As the Deputy Editor of tech2, Shayne divides his time between babysitting new joinees and making sure Bali doesn't throw women around the office. He stays fit by running back and forth between his desk, the tech team or some other department.
Rossi Fernandes
Head, Tech2 Labs.
Our resident Hardware Ninja, Rossi, lives for speed - by uhh riding his bicycle. He's Tech2's utility man, dividing his time between cameras, software and intense bouts of Quake III. He's also a fan of all things obscure, case in point, Live for Speed (sic). Never heard of it? We rest our case. In his spare time he tries to teach our new joinees the tricks of the trade even though the blood sweat and tears, but give him a camera and all things forgotten.
Avinash (Nash) Bali
Channel Editor Gaming
Nash, as he prefers being called, woke up to the wonders of gaming rather late but don't bring that up around him. It's a touchy subject. A self confessed Battlefield veteran, Nash spent a good part of 2010 on the Steam Battlefield - with Bad Company (see what we did there?). He has a zero tolerance policy towards RTS games but is currently showing an interest by picking up and moving people - who he refers to as units - in the office. Thank God he's not that enthusiastic about Angry Birds or we'd be seeing women flying all over the place. Bali... Bali, put the receptionist down now.
Roydon Cerejo
Senior Reviewer
Roydon may have come over from the dark side but has proven himself as a true blue member of the tech2 light. His forte lies in all realms of technology but give him an open PC and he'll be salivating with excitement to see what's inside. On the other hand he's also all about being laid back with a good movie or propped up in front of his monitor or TV gaming away his idle hours. When he's not staring at his computer screen he's neck deep in some gizmo that's laying around the labs.
Padmini Harchandrai
Asst. Producer, Tech2
Paddy does not, we repeat, definitely does NOT belong in the category of the Mac-heads (yeh right!). She does, however, get excited by her iPhone and her iMac and her iPod Nano and her Macbook and Bali's iPad and her future iHouse (patent pending). Ok, so maybe her head is a little bit forbidden fruit shaped. She likes shooting video (iPhone 4 camera zindabad!) and editing montages (Final Cut Pro zindabad!), whether the scene calls for it or no. In her spare time, she's either kicking it on stage with KB the keyboard or kicking butt at Taekwondo.
Aaron Almeida
Staff Writer
Aaron may look like one of those flashy young 'dudes' who loves their bling but at the core he's reliable and overly diligent. With his ready smile and silly laugh he's quick to lend a hand. A speedy learner when it comes to picking up all kinds of points and explanations from mentor Rossi, Aaron, like Shayne, is also a comic book fan but his collection of figurines etc. deviate into the movie and gaming genres as well. Give him a challenge and on comes the goofy grin and off come the gloves. But with all the rippling muscles, beneath those trendy T-shirts (read tight), he still finds it hard to unscrew a camera plate off of our in-house rig!
Anuradha Shetty
Copy Editor
Tech 2's other double X chromosome doesn't know it yet but has a slight obsession with doom. No. not the game. Earthquakes, tsunamis and soothsayers predicting destruction based on the moon's placement in Mars' underbelly has her ears perked, just check the majority of news stories that she does. Her innocent look is just the beacon of light we need for when Bali finally gives in to his rage and turns into the Hulk. She's responsible for copy editing the teams work and keeps them on their toes.
Rajesh D’Souza
Labs Manager
Rajesh is our coordinator who can hook you up with anything under the sun be it tablets, motherboards, mobile phones (that vibrate) or even mail order Russian brides. People cower in fear as he blazes through the mean streets of Mumbai on his beloved Go-Kart which we hear he shares a very intimate relationship with. Rajesh is always on the phone and while he claims he's only procuring products, we wonder why all his contacts are from Dubai. Oh wait...
