More guidelines to better your photography skills

Get the best out of your Digicam - II

Do Odd Numbers
The thing with good photo compositions is that it should stand out; it should have some element that moves away from the sense of order and symmetry that our mind is used to. this is the basic idea behind all the composition guidelines.

A good example of that would be using an odd number of subjects instead of even ones. Even number of objects make an image look simple because it immediately brings out a sense of symmetry. For example the image below may look great with just two candles even though it gives a sense of symmetry because of the even number of objects.

Add in an extra candle and see the difference. The mind is immediately made to notice the lack of symmetry, making the image more appealing to look at.

You can try this guideline with most subjects, be it people, birds, animals, flowers, inanimate objects, and just about anything you can think of.
