A Guide to MMORPGs - Part I

Debuffer/Crowd-Control

Classes – Warlock, Mage, Necromancer, etc.

A Debuffer or CC class (crowd control) ensures that whatever the party’s up against stays at its worst while fighting, making it easier for all the other classes to do their task. While debuffing (making your enemies perform badly) isn’t such an import task, crowd-control certainly is. Crowd-Control keeps the number of monsters you fight in check by disabling one or more of these creatures by casting powerful spells/curses/hexes on them.

In most online games these classes are rare, so they have a sort of exotic feel to them. If you like being part of the minority (which has its advantages), this class is undoubtedly for you. I wouldn’t suggest the class to completely new players though, since it might seem less glamorous than the other classes, making you feel like starting from scratch.
