Gaming Annoyances 101: The Human Factor

Let's take a look at how some annoying folk are capable of ruining that perfect gaming moment.

Whiners These are by far the most annoying creatures you can come up against while playing online. Just like how a bad carpenter complains about his tools, these whiners will always come up with ten thousand excuses like "Oh, my mouse just skipped", or "Duuuuude I ran of out ammo" etc. Once again, I’d like to elaborate on this rant with an example. During one Deathmatch in Rainbow Six Vegas I was perched in one of the rooms above (hey, I don’t camp all the time okay?) when I come across this dude wandering about in the courtyard below. So I take aim and pop him one in the head Instead of acknowledging my l33t skillz he starts whining like a bitch about how he was on a call and that I shouldn’t have killed him. For starters, I’m not psychic so I didn’t know that and secondly, if he was on the other side of the gun, would he have hesitated? I think not. The bottomline is that if you’re on a call, put the controller down or enter spectator mode but don’t roam around the map and whine if you end up taking a bullet. Another thing that struck me as weird was the way people cry if you chainsaw them in Gears of War. WTF is that all about?! Isn’t it equivalent to a knife kill or any form of melee attack, and you obviously weren’t fast enough to evade this up close and personal attack, so why bitch and gripe and call the opponent a n00b for using the game’s mechanic?
I could go and on about these whiners but I’d rather stop since I find myself drifting towards that very same category. Nikhil too has his share of annoyances he’d like to share with you next week, but in the meantime if you have anything you’d like to rant about, feel free to drop a comment below. |
