Platform: PC Release Date: TBA 2009 If the fantasy settings of MMOGs tick you off, APB is the kind of MMOG you'd enjoy. The game is based in an urban setting where two sides - Enforcers and Criminals - that are at constant battle with one another. The player will be able to form gangs or teams with whom they can them engage in a constant turf war (and I mean the territories will be contested 24/7) to decide who has control over the city. The player will be able to pick up missions pertaining to their faction, allowing them to earn some dough so that they can buy weapon upgrade, character visual upgrade, vehicles, and all that sweet stuff that comes with the territory of an urban MMOG. The most impressive bit is the PVP structure - when a criminal player decides to rob a bank or so, an equal leveled player of the opposite faction searching for a PVP match will receive an all points bulletin for him to stop the robbery in progress. While I'm rather skeptical about the way the game will play out (considering its a pretty ambitious venture), I can't help being hopeful of this breath of fresh air in the MMO space. Platform:PS3 Release Date: TBA 2009 Console MMOGs have been the proverbial carrot on a stick for many console owners; in which case, MAG is undoubtedly the juiciest looking carrot of the lot. As the name suggests, Massive Action Game will feature huge battles of over 256 players, which will be split up in groups of eight. The player will be able to rank up by engaging in battles often, and by ranking up they'll be able gain access to special abilities and upgrades. The persistent combat world will allow for faction-based campaigns that will encourage players to work together to achieve victory, and, in the bargain, gain loads of experience. Vehicular combat will be a big part of the game, allowing players to do everything from setting up a tank squads to command a tank on the battlefield, to man an Armored Personnel Carrier to transport troupes right in the heat of battle. |
