Keep Your PC Cool This Summer

Help your PC beat the heat this summer...

Keep your PC dust free Most of the heat related issues where graphic cards and processors are concerned arise from accumulated dust on their fans, causing them to under perform and not provide an adequate amount of cooling. It's important to keep the insides of your casing dust free, most importantly every fan in there. Accumulated dust obstructs the movement of your graphic card fan, your processor fan, the one on your power supply, and the other ones scattered on your casing, causing them to move sluggishly. In fact, accumulated dust can even act as a blanket over your PC's innards, trapping heat under them. If you think your fans are moving just fine even with dust on them, think again! Each PC fan works harder to move when obstructed by dust, making them consume more electricity. If they consume more electricity, they actually end up generating more heat; so smooth moving fans aren't the only way to tell if you have too much dust settled in. If you see dust, get rid of it! A few ways to do this is to remove your graphic card, and blow into it. Before you touch anything on the inside of your PC though, follow the tip below: __STARTQUOTE__TIP: Did you know that the static charge off your fingers can actually fry your motherboard, graphic card or RAM? To ensure that you don't do something of this sort by mistake, touch any metal part on your PC's casing before you touch any vital components. This helps rid it of any static.__ENDQUOTE__ Alternately, if you can get your hands on a can of compressed air from a nearby hardware store, nothing like it! Use this to blow dust out of the corners of your cabinet. If not that, you can always use a vacuum cleaner to suck out the dust from your PC. |
