Headphones Under Rs 1000

So many applications, so many choices! It’s quite a labyrinth out there when it comes to electronic gear, and headphones is an integral part of this confusing circuit city.

Of course, headphones and earphones have no real circuits in them. Ultimately, all they do is reproduce sound, straight in your ears. Is that so? Then why do some cost up to Rs. 28,000, and why do others make you look like a Martian when you put them on?

Take a look at our Headphone Buying Guide to clear a few doubts you may have on the various types and forms available. Why are there so many options out there? The answer is obvious: quality matters, and having a variety to choose from means you stand a better chance of finding the ideal pair.

We have done the looking for you: we've filtered out the also-rans, and highlighted the adorable (sort of). This is a mix of earphones, headphones and in-ear-canal phones, all from popular brands that have impressed us in the past.

The budget conscious buyer will need a pair of head/earphones for reasons such as gaming at work, chilling at home, loafing on the discman, or just humming the tunes streaming from one's PMP.

In all these cases, the primary question would simply be: what headphones do I buy? A tough question, though there are clear answers. Read on...

Sennheiser Headmax PX30
These are classic supra-aural headphones, with a retro-adjustable headband that we’ve been clicking away, expanding or contracting over the years. Black all over, from the headband to the protective foam on the transducer, the Sennheiser logo is imprinted in silvery white on the side bands.

The plastic material used for the unit is quite lightweight, making the headphone very light overall. This is a good thing as you must remember that the essence of good headphones is comfort, and its prolonged use that eventually decides how ergonomically suitable they are.

We used the PX30 for quite a while, and faced no real problem physically. The foam on the drivers is something that will eventually wear off, though no sign of weakness was displayed during its entire tenure with us at Tech2.
