Online Resources for Students

Chances are you will be bunking till the nth month once colleges are under way next month, with n standing for the month of your exam. So obviously you will miss out on a lot of lectures, and why not? Fun is important, right. But you can also catch up with your studies later in the night slyly, and for that we have the web, the oracle of all information. We cannot come and sit for your papers, but surely we can help, and here is a list of great web resources for the Indian college student.

To begin with, one can check out a site like Cliffsnotes.com, an international site, but the content is really brilliant. It is directly study related. Originally a homework site, it comes with test papers, subject wise stuff that is very relevant to junior college students. The algebra and science section has cool multiple choice stuff and basics' explanation. A nerd paradise.

Moving on, one thing that people face in college is calculus. No one ever grasps it in the first go, and especially Science students should really concentrate on the subject, jokes apart. But not to worry, the web has super sexy resources on higher math, just check out a place like Karl’s calculus tutor, a cool place to grasp the basics. This might be obvious, but do bookmark/check math.com, a straight up math oriented database. All the commerce junta will have the "never tallying" subjects called accounts, the stuff that runs our economy. For them this site is a lovely one: futureaccountant. And the budding Einsteins in baggy pants, there is a physics site developed by students themselves called physicsclassroom.

Moving on, we have Indiaedu.com, a simply laid out portal with loads of information. Really, loads and loads, but the good thing is that it is well designed (the site) and easily navigable. Right from coaching center information to SAT exam notes, this place has a wide range. It’s more a like a portal for quick info on dates, entrance test venues, question papers. Of course you will greeted by Google ads everywhere, but that’s the bread for us.

Indiastudychannel.com is a little different than your regular educational information portal. This one has the twist of making some cash while using the site. We cannot say how useful, or for that matter, authentic that section is, but otherwise the site has some real useful information, like model entrance exams for the CETs, question papers etc.

Since we are based in Mumbai, here’s one for the Mumbaikars, it’s a city specific site called Mumbaieducation.net. A very nice site this one, it just tends to be a little cluttered. But one thing is there, this site has a really vast database of info on colleges, syllabi and the like.

Finally, all work and no play makes you boring, thus there are some cool college oriented sites out there for the junta, like Campusjunkie.com, it’s a fun site. No studies here, rather info on random stuff about your college. It’s a colorful layout, easy to browse, fonts are cursive, and informal, a refreshing change from text books. It’s more a place to hang out, and participate in votes and discussions, and yeah, right now there is an article called ‘confessions of a college slut.’ Please leave some nice suggestions of your own, in the comment box, a list like this can be endless.
