The list of iPhone killers continues with a few new additions. Take a look.

iPhone Killers - The List Goes on - Part IV

The iPhone is still basking in a glory known only to those who either don’t know too much about the handset and have only heard fans rave about it or existing owners. Of course existing owners will have spent a pretty paisa on the handset so it’ll be a little to late for buyer’s remorse. Nevertheless the iPhone is an icon for mobile technology advancement at least when it comes to its fantastic display characteristic. We’re all presumably quite hyped about the newest addition that just may make it out in July. But for those looking for a handset, with price as no object because you intended to buy something as close to the iPhone as possible, here are a few alternatives or i-Killers that made and could make the cut.

Here are a couple of up and comers first that could seriously be a threat to the iPhone’s throne.

N97 - Not yet launched

According to the rumors going around about the new iPhone, 32GB of space is what the handset is going to be equipped with. Nokia’s N97 is also in the same league and is also equipped with the same capacity with a one up on the iPhone 3rd Gen as it’s also capable of extending that with microSD cards up to 16GB. Compared to the 3G, the N97 has the same sized display (3.5-inches) only with a higher resolution of 360 x 640. It’s equipped with a 5 megapixel camera opposed to the 3rd gen's 3.2MP shooter. The unique styling should make it a full function device over and over its media capabilities. GPS, handwriting recognition and of course Bluetooth with A2DP are all part of the N97’s make up.

LG Arena - Not yet launched

The Arena is also going to be a handset that Apple should take very seriously as an iPhone competitor. It’s equipped with 8GB of internal memory that can be expanded via microSD cards. It also comes with a 5 megapixel camera and Geotagging with GPS on board as well. Even when it comes to connectivity it’s quite loaded – Wi-Fi, EDGE, 3G, Bluetooth with A2DP, it’s all there. Like the iPhone, the Arena also has multitouch with an accelerometer as part of the display’s capabilities. You can use ‘pinch control’ for zooming in or out of images and websites etc. The new 3D revolving multiple desktop may seem a bit over the top but it’s quite handy. You’ll also be able to play most videos in DivX and XviD formats by copy pasting the files on to the drive. No iTunes. It supports TV out and also comes with an FM radio which is also (hopefully) going to be part of the new iPhone’s feature pack.
