Upcoming Mobiles to Look Out For

Take a look at some up and coming mobile handsets to look out for.

Let’s face it. We’re never going to be satisfied with the technology we have and will always look to the future to see what comes next. The old adage – Necessity is the mother of invention - is totally irrelevant and outdated. Mobile technology is not being reinvented, just customized to our variety of wants. It's a marketing game for the manufacturers to redesign and thrill their consumer base. And why not? So what’s the next step? What’s next from mobile-dom? I don’t know about you, but here’s a list of handsets I’m looking forward to seeing and of course reviewing. Samsung I7500 I’m quite eager to get a hands-on experience with the Android OS. To be honest I’m not really specific about the handset though the I7500 could just make it here a lot sooner than any others. It has an OLED display, 8 Gigs of internal memory, Wi-Fi and a 5 megapixel camera. The camera will also support geotagging since the handset is equipped with GPS. The fluidity of the operating system and overall functionality for customization of the interface should be quite something. Will it be completely finger friendly as the iPhone or require certain aspects to be accessed with a stylus? I hope I get the chance to figure that out soon. Nokia N97 Nokia’s newest N-Series device has the promise of tantalizing technology in a radical new form factor. I’m not too crazy about the white color for the handset but the way the display sits over the keypad has me very interested. It’s loaded with a 5MP camera and comes with a whopping 32GB of memory and capacity for more (up to 16GB). Eat your heart out iPhone. It features a large 3.5-inch touch screen with Nokia’s Symbian OS v9.4 with a Series 60 UI which I’m hoping is like the 5800’s - only better. It’s an all purpose device with Wi-Fi, 3G support and even GPS. WOW! Nokia 6208 Classic The 6208 Classic is Nokia’s very first Series 40 touchscreen device. I’m curious to see how they’ve managed the OS. The handset is quite average as far as mobiles go. It’s equipped with a 2.4-inch touchscreen, a 3.2MP camera, Bluetooth with A2DP and microSD card support. So it may not be the most feature rich handset the company’s ever devised, but I’d like to see how functional an S40 UI is as a touchscreen. I don’t imagine it to be too different except for data entry for which it has a humongous stylus and supports handwriting recognition, but I’d like to see for myself. Considering it was just launched here I do believe I won’t have to wait too long and neither will you. Sony Ericsson W995/Idou Another 8 megapixel mobile camera phone from Sony Ericsson should be here anytime soon. The W995 is a loaded handset that’s equipped with Wi-Fi capabilities aside from GPS, Bluetooth with A2DP and of course its Walkman music player. The camera comes preloaded with Face detection technology, an image stabilizer and Geotagging of images. It’s a pretty slick looking slider unlike the C905 Cyber-shot, which had a great camera but was a little bulky. Of course I can’t forget that the first 12 megapixel camera phone the Idou is also something to wait and watch out for as I had mentioned a while back. |
