Touchscreen Phones Under Rs. 8,000

The touchscreen genre is ‘now’ technology that makes interacting with your mobile a little more interesting but if you’re worried that your bank account will scream out in agony at the thought of the expense, here are a few options that are under Rs. 8000. These are the some of the latest devices to hit the Indian shelves.

Samsung Star Nano 3G – Rs. 7,320
The Nano 3G is one of the cheapest 3G enabled devices on the market at the moment. It’s designed to offer users speedy net connectivity in a small sleek package. It uses Samsung’s own TouchWiz UI complete with multiple desktops and widgets that can be dragged and dropped. For the social networker, Facebook, MySpace, YouTube, Gtalk, AIM and Palringo chat options are available. Push email is also available.

LG Cookie Fresh – Rs. 7,800
LG has added yet another Cookie to their popular range of mid-level touchscreen devices, the GS290. It’s a funky new handset that features a native Facebook application and also supports gesture shortcuts as well as handwriting recognition. Image and video editors are also pre-loaded. The new Cookie also features LG’s Live Square function for favorite or frequently used contacts.

Nokia 5233 – Rs. 7,333
The Nokia 5233 is a lower end version of the 5800 XpressMusic handset. It’s simple and lightweight handset that’s designed to be comfortable to use. The 5233 runs on a Symbian OS with a Series 60 touchscreen UI. Nokia has also included their media bar, a touch-sensitive key just above the display, making it easy to access media files etc. Access to Nokia’s Ovi Store (preloaded) enables you to download apps and games. The handset also comes bundled with Ovi Maps even though it doesn’t have a GPS module.
