Here is a souped gaming PC on a Rs. 60,000 budget.

It’s been a while since we visited our favorite section – the gaming PC. Since our last roundup, things have changed quite dramatically and keeping these changes in mind, we decided to refresh our configuration. CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo Q8200 Intel as usual has not been stagnant and has moved onto its extremely powerful i7 range. While these processors have no competition in the performance stakes, they are also very expensive and even the entry level processor was beyond the scope of the budget we had set ourselves. After looking around, we settled on the Intel Q8200. Motherboard: Gigabyte EP43-DS3L The P43 chipset was designed by Intel as a scaled down P45 chipset that offers performance similar to the P45 but on a budget. The chipset has done pretty well for itself and products based on this chipset are selling quite well.
RAM prices have been going further south and it's time to take advantage of this. At least 4 GB of system memory is absolutely vital nowadays with the increased size and requirements of software. Kingston has been making quality RAM sticks for a long time. Now available with a 5-year warranty, it’s perfect for our machine. |
