10 More Awesome Games for Free

Judging by the amazing response our last free game articles received, we can tell that a lot of you are suffering from broke-ism as much as we are. If that's the case, your friendly neighborhood Tech2 doctors are back again to hook you up with a dose of free gaming. Here are 10 more free games for you to enjoy:

A spin-off of the MechWarrior series that swooped the mech-fanatics of the 90s by storm, Mech Commander made some of the most awesome mech-based real-time strategy/tactical games you could hope for. The game placed a crap load of mechs at your disposal, each of which had their own strengths and weaknesses, making them viable for long ranged to short ranged or close quarters combat. The roster included mechs that specialized in scouting, reconnaissance, heavy combat, sniping and loads of other things. You could use squads of these mechanical powerhouses to conquer the game's lengthy singleplayer campaign any way you wanted to.

If you like your multiplayer frag-fests fast, free and light on your system, Alien Arena should be right up your alley! This free game uses the CRX engine that was used in multiplayer hits such as Quake III and Unreal Tournament, that's still easy on the eyes so many years after release. The game features a retro sci-fi theme with gameplay akin to the umpteen shooters of the Quake III era, ensuring that it's flavored to the taste of multiplayer shooter fanatics. To sweeten the deal the game features a crap-load of modes such as Deathmatch, Team Core Assault, All Out Assault, Capture the Flag, Duel, and Cattle Prod (yes, Cattle Prod!), so rest assured you know that the Rs. 0 you invest in the game, is safe!

What started off as a tech demo to promote the Newton Game Dynamics Physics engine eventually evolved into a full-fledged survival horror first person shooter. Penumbra boasts of quite a few things, but longevity isn't one of them. Since it is a free game developed from a tech demo, the game spawns only a couple of hours, but during that time you get immersed into a rather grim, moody game-world, with loads of physics-based puzzles to play around with. If you're in the mood for a free horror game to creep you out, you might want to take a look at this one.
