Install Low-Voltage Landscape Lighting

Install low-voltage landscape lighting with this walk-through video from Lowe's. A landscape lighting kit offers everything you need to illuminate the outside of your home at night. Start by finding the Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI). If you do not have a GFCI, you can use an outdoor outlet, but a GFCI is recommended due to the shock protection it provides in high moisture settings. Assemble the low-voltage landscape lights using the manufacturer's instructions as your guide. Place them in the locations you want them in your yard. Next you'll need to lay the cable and connect the lights using connector caps. Dig a 3 inch deep trench along the path of your lights and place the cable into it. Place the outdoor lights halfway into the ground to mark their position. Then connect the cable to the power pack and plug the power pack into your outlet. If any of your landscape lights are not working, unplug the lights and recheck the connectors. To finalize your outdoor lighting installation, push the lights into the ground, cover the trenches, set the automatic timer, and your low-voltage landscape lighting installation is complete.
