Will God of War Ascension be Another Crappy Prequel?

God of War Ascension was announced as a prequel to the God of War Trilogy. While it may be brilliant, there's a long train wreck of bad prequels and sequels in and out of gaming. Will this be another? Either way, The Bearded Gamer feels like it's artistic laziness to make a prequel.
