Repairing HP Pavilion Notebook's nVidia GPU issue
Here you can see the home method of fixing a HP Pavilion dv6500.
This is a common issue, you've probably read about it.
There is a professional method of repai, called BGA reballing, but i choosed to fix it home.
Unfortunately it isn't permanent, you may do it again, but if you have some luck it can last long. I know it can destroy my motherboard, but it's still better than the oven or gas lighter method. Try to do it to ca. 200°C. (About 40-45 seconds with my heat gun)
I used a Bosch PHG-500 (1000W) heater, what you can buy in stores.
Don't do it, if you aren't sure. I will answer if you have any questions.
