The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon is the latest Ultrabook from Lenovo and they tout it as the "thinnest 14 inch ultrabook in the industry." They certainly have a right to make that claim here as its one of the lightest and thinnest laptops I've ever held. It only weights 3 lbs. and to be honest it doesn't even feel like that. It made of carbon fiber and magnesium which gives it that lightweight but tough exterior. The glass track pad is also a nice addition and gives a great feel when you click down on it. The famous IBM ThinkPad keyboard is on here and now its backlit and feels amazing to type on from my quick test on it.
Even with it being light and think it still packs the power in with a 3rd generation Intel Core Processor using the Ivy Bridge chipset, 1600 x 900 hi-res display, up to 8 GB or RAM, 128 GB or 256 GB SSD storage options, 3G Data connectivity and rapid charge that will charge your batter to 80% in just under 30 minutes.
Lenovo is bringing there A game here to keep their business users happy. The ultrabook market is going to be a crowded one and its important to differentiate yourself from the rest of the market and Lenovo looks to have done that here. The X1 Carbon should do well with the ThinkPad fan and should gain some new ones as well if the performance lives up to the design. Check our hands-on video and let us know what you think of the new Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon ultraboook.
