News Update Is RIM On The Way To Becoming The Next Palm Business Insider
"If history repeats itself, says Business Insider, it's going to be a tough road for BlackBerry maker Research In Motion (NASDAQ:RIMM) which is starting to resemble long lost Palm.
Business Insider said that Research In Motion seems to be in a similar position that Palm found itself in just a few years ago when it suddenly came across as extremely vulnerable as its competitors pushed out advanced smartphones that made their technology seem obsolete.
However, RIM is still selling a fair amount of BlackBerry handsets, and its international presence may grow as the market for smartphones grows. Nonetheless, Palm also used to generate a lot of smartphone sales as well, but there is a great deal of risk that as time goes by RIM may begin losing market share to Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Google (NASDAQ:GOOG), and be forced to become a ""lower-margin, low-end player.""
