In which I use a da Vinci Robotic Surgical System to tie rubber bands in knots
I got to play around with a da Vinci robot at the EMSI EMS Update conference today! One of the demos they had for you to try was to manipulate 1/8-inch (3mm) rubber bands and place them on small pylons. I took the Intuitive rep's challenge to tie two together, and managed it on my first try.

The da Vinci Surgical System is a robotic surgical system made by Intuitive Surgical and designed to facilitate complex surgery using a minimally invasive approach. The system is controlled by a surgeon from a console. It is commonly used for prostatectomies, and increasingly for cardiac valve repair and gynecologic surgical procedures.
